The latest Windows 11 update announces some exciting new features. For your convenience, we are sharing yesterday's Tuesday Tech Tip video below followed by a few highlights of upcoming features.
Windows 11 Tabbed Notepad
Windows 11 will introduce support for multiple tabs allowing users to create, manage, and organize multiple files in a single Notepad window. Users can also continue to work with files across multiple windows by dragging a tab out into its own window. A new app setting lets users customize whether files open in new tabs or a new window by default.
Snipping Tool Screen Recording
In addition to making it easy to share screen captures from your PC, the Snipping Tool will be updated to allow screen recording as well. To record, open the Snipping Tool app and select the Record button.
The user can then select the section of the screen to be recorded. When finished, the user can choose to preview the recording before saving or sharing.
Phone Link for iOS
Coming soon is the ability for iPhone users to use their phone from their Windows 11 PC via Phone Link.
After choosing iPhone, the guided installation will kick off to pair the iPhone. The user will be directed to follow a set of steps to pair the iPhone and PC over Bluetooth.
Once pairing is complete, the user will be asked to grant a set of permissions get favorite content synced over to Phone Link which will ask to give permissions on the iPhone in the iPhone’s Bluetooth settings. Once installation and paired is completed, Phone Link will deliver basic iOS support for calls, messages, and contacts. Users will be notified through Windows notifications.
